ABERAVON BRIDGE CANOPY
client: Arcane Fabric Engineering Ltd for Neath Port Talbot Borough Council

The client’s brief was to prepare designs for a pedestrian canopy which would cover but structurally independent of an historic listed bridge in the centre of Port Talbot.
Fenton Holloway were responsible for the concept and detailed structural design of this 40m span tubular steel spine trussed frame carrying a 13m wide stressed membrane barrel vaulted canopy supported from tubular cantilever arms.
The project was awarded a Special Mention in the Civic Trust Awards 2001
