DOVERCOURT ATRIUM CANOPY

As a specialist designer of tensile fabric structures, Fenton Holloway were able to prepare a fully co-ordinated scheme as part of our wider remit of providing design services for a large mixed use development.
The canopy was let under a design and build contract and we were appointed by our manufacturer client to provide detailed design services.
The 46m long x 20m wide triple conic canopy covers the atrium space between blocks of timber framed apartments of up to 6 storeys. It is supported around its perimeter from an independent steel walkway structure with one headring fixed above a lift shaft and two cable supported 'flying' masts.
The dramatic form of the canopy provides both a protected internal space whist maintaining acceptable light levels through the glazed mast tops.
